Anders and Justice

Description

Anders from Dragon Age 2 (c) Bioware

It seems logical to place Justice in the reflection, but that's not what I think. That's easy to see a monster in Anders, especially with Justice in control, but... is it impossible to look at him and still see that kind hearted man, who loved cats and cured people for free? I believe, he is still there somewhere, no matter what.

It took me three weeks to finish the drawing, and there is some details.
Anders, a bit edited to look more like independent portrait:

A cat, also edited. I used a photo of my cat as reference :)

And a mirror frame, with all that templars and mages:

Hey, a new comment almost a year after the last!

But honestly, this is gorgeous. It's one of the best portrayals I've seen of Anders and Justice in Dragon Age, honestly. There's no fighting, there's no struggle. Anders looks neutral, almost peaceful while Justice has that hard look to him and wears his darker renegade's coat, obtained after the deed was done--rather, put into place. Ser Pounce a Lot watches him with just as neutral a face, though perhaps a tad curious as cats are. There's warmth with Anders and his side; a light, scattered notes, a plant, a cat, the ghost of a smile and clean, straightened clothes... but with Justice we see swirls of darkness melting into the frame, kept at bay only by the ghost of light from Anders' side, a barely concealed scowl, wisps of magic flitting about his fingers. As much as he says that his rage turned Justice into Vengeance, I believe it was entirely a two-way street. The light trickling in to combat the darkness creeping in like a villainous fog is sad and scary, not for what he can do, but for what has been done to them both. Ultimately, the choice of keeping Justice in frame with Anders as a reflection was an amazing choice.

I know this is old, but it's still very beautiful and, honestly, rather timeless considering.
